Greetings from Spring Conference Keynote Speaker Greetings dedicated members of the Korean Society of Periodontology¡¦I am Jonghyeok Jeong, a periodontology professor at Kyung Hee University. I have been given the honor of being the keynote speaker at the 27th Korean Society of Periodontology Spring Conference. This year's Spring Conference to be held in the beautiful season of spring at Kyung Hee University will cover suggestions for the direction of a variety of dental treatments, including understanding of periodontal disease and implants. We will introduce methods for researching and analyzing the etiology of periodontal disease using new technologies, and will endeavor to erase all uncertainty with regards to solving aesthetic problems of the anterior region as well as insertion of flapless implants. This special conference will include a variety of topics covered by Professor Taeju Oh of the University of Michigan regarding flapless surgery of implants – an issue still causing much debate among clinicians. On the first day of the conference, we will be covering topics which will prove to be most helpful in aiding your understanding of the nature of periodontal disease and also in clinical application. By introducing research on analytical methods relating to plaque bacteria using big data analysis currently being used in a diverse range of fields and applying this to periodontology, we will be able to better our understanding of the causes and the host factors of periodontal disease. We believe that the lecture on medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw, which has recently been receiving a lot of attention alongside new implant treatments, will provide you with a lot of information on prevention and treatment of osteonecrosis. At the symposium to be held on the second day, we will cover selected main topics relating to prosthetic, periodontal, and implant treatment for improving aesthetics of the anterior region, and topics which will allow us to contemplate the interconnectedness. We believe you will receive much information which will be of practical clinical help to you should you decide to join us at the Conference. Through the clinical cases presented in the majors of each training institution, in addition to information on implants (the current hot topic in dentistry), we have taken various surgical periodontal treatments tested and developed over the last half a century, and put them into four categories so that you may all have much to discuss with each other and have a lot of information to take away with you. This 27th Spring Conference is being held on April 9 and 10 (Saturday and Sunday) to ensure that all members are able to attend. We are expecting a great turnout, and we hope that the conference can be testimonial to our academic pride, and be a place of festivity to be enjoyed by all of our periodontology-loving members. Finally, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the entire faculty at Kyung Hee University who have dedicated themselves unsparingly to make this Conference possible. I look forward to seeing you at the Conference. Thank you. April 9, 2016 |
